It’s that time of year when we ask parishioners to consider becoming a member of our Parish Council.
The Council meets nine times a year and acts on behalf of the general parish membership in collaboration with the Pastor on a wide range of issues that promote our vision. Would you like to have a role in coordinating Parish activities? Perhaps working with other religious and civic groups to identify and respond to those in need? Maybe you’re called to identify and respond to the spiritual and temporal needs of parish members?
If so, please consider applying for a position on the Parish Council. The form is also available in the parish office.
Feel free to contact Suzanne Richmond with any questions.
Catholic pastors consult pastoral councils in order to be better leaders.
In brief, the work of the pastoral council is pastoral planning.
Pastoral councils were first recommended in Vatican II’s “Decree on the Pastoral Office of Bishops.” They exist in three-fourths of the 18,000 Catholic parishes in the USA.
The special task of councillors requires patience, tenacity, studiousness, and the capacity for sustained thought.
