As we continue our journey this Advent season you will notice a change in colors. This week the priest does not wear the violet color nor is the third candle lit on the wreath violet. The color for this week is rose (pink). This third Sunday of Advent is called: Gaudete Sunday. Not sure what that means (or how to pronounce Gaudete) check out this quick video from The Religion Teacher: What is Gaudete Sunday?
Also this past week had one MAJOR Marian Feast Day. The Immaculate Conception. It is never too late (or too early) to talk about this special day and what it means for the Church, you, and your children. Here is a good article that you can use to help talk to your children about this Feast: The Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Here is Fr. Mike Schmitz’s video explaining it as well. This might especially helpful in light of the pandemic when he talks about vaccines. Check it out: Immaculate Conception
Another Mary Feast Day we celebrate on December 12 is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The miraculous story of this apparition is one that children of all ages will love!
For a longer (around 22 minutes) video that talks about the facts of this apparition, the tilma, and the unseen check out this video The Amazing and Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe
For a shorter video (7 minutes) show this one to your children The Story of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Here is a fun color, cut, and paste activity for your children to create the tilma December Activity
A lot going on this week within the Church as we draw closer to celebrating the birth of our Savior! Have a great week!
