STEWARDSHIP TALK NANCY ARMACOST SUNDAY JUNE 18, 2006
Charity, the saying goes, begins at home. I believe this is true, but I also believe that many people define
home too narrowly, limiting it to the space within the four walls they happen to inhabit. Our home is the
community we love, and our family is all the people in it.
One of the great things about this church is that we are at all times encouraged to try new directions.
That is precisely what I have done here since I have become a member. I still remember with vivid pleasure
how proud and thrilled I felt when I joined the choir, doing the prayers of the faithful, eucharistic minister,
working with the homeless, and the bereavement committee, especially, liturgy of the word for children grades 1-3.
I would like to give you a glimpse into the world of teaching the children grades 1-3.
On the day I am scheduled to teach, I like to stand at the front door with the liturgy book, greeting people as
they come into the church.
One morning, a well dressed dark hair little boy with an infectious smile on his face passed by me ,went into
the chapel, and knelt down on the wooden kneeler in front of the altar. He bowed his head and folded his hands
in front for a silent prayer. I thought to myself the children shall lead the way.
I would like to leave you with this thought. The volunteers of the church work because they believe in a cause
and in the people they are working with,
Do we have any volunteers?.
