Stewardship Minutes

Stewardship Talk

Hi, I’m Lori Schrand and I’m here to speak to you about stewardship.

I remember clearly the day that I was first invited to attend training to become a catechist for religious formation of children. My initial reaction was “who ME?” “I’m not worthy, knowledgeable or holy enough to teach my faith!”

In the 10 years I’ve spent as a catechist I’ve grown in my relationship with God and gained wisdom, knowledge, joy and strength that only comes from Him. The truth is, I am no more worthy of this ministry, or any other ministry I’ve had the privilege to serve in since that day. Not on my own merit. But God’s gifts are always enough. He guides and strengthens me. By relying on the Holy Spirit when I’m serving, whether it be in the Christian Formation classroom, at home with my children, teaching Baptism classes for future parents, leading a Women’s Circle prayer group, or figuring out how my family will fit Mass, folk group, alter serving, Christian Formation, sports, private music lessons and scouts into our schedule, I call on God’s abilities through me to make the week all that He desires.

A great source of His strength comes through the support and love that I receive from my family and from my Women’s Circle Prayer Group, my sisters in Christ. Women’s Circle groups are a great way to share your faith with others while praying and growing through scripture and service together as a group. We’re blessed to have each other to rely on in times of need and times of joy, as well as in times of ministry.

If you haven’t heard about the Women’s Circle Prayer Groups here at Saint Nicholas, or if you’re a family or man who’s interested in joining an all family or all male group, please come see me in the commons after mass. I look forward to meeting with you!

Peace be with you all.
