Stewardship Minutes

Doug Kulp

Good Evening Everyone,

My name is Doug Kulp. I'll be speaking briefly on my stewardship journey.

The journey started in the fall of 1973 when as a member of the music ministry I sang in the choir. As time passed my stewardship was devoted to Cantoring.

Then in 2002 I shifted gears and became a Lector, reading the word of God primarily at the 11:00 mass.

My personal goal as a Lector is to understand the scripture and in a clear and consise voice, articulate the word to the congregation. This for their benefit and understanding.

The fulfillment and satisfaction from stewardship is immense and personally gratifying.

There are many new memories to be made if you decide to join the many ministries here at St. Nicholas.

Allow me to share with you my fondest memory of all. I participated in Meals on Wheels and we had a Mrs. Etheridge on our route. She was a vibrant and enthusiastic octogenerian. She would greet my partner and I with the same "Oh boy, I get two handsome gentlemen today!". Her arms outstretched demanding a hug with my partner and I very willing. She became bed-ridden and eventually she no longer was on our delivery list. This is one memory of many I will cherish from the opportunity to serve others at St.
Nicholas. These opportunities are available to all of you if you just reach out and grasp it.

In closing, let me read the definition of stewardship from the U.S. Bishops
1992 Pastoral Letter: "One who receives God's gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable matter, shares them in justice and love with others and returns them with increase to the Lord."

Thank You and God Bless You.
