Pastoral
Care
M.
E. Cox Center for Elder Day Care
Ever wondered
about the one-story, brick building with the circular driveway at
the rear of the parking lot on our grounds?
History
The Center was formerly located in our church, before they built
their own building. In 2005, they will celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Many parishioners have, or have had, loved ones benefit from their
services.
This 501(c)(3)
non-profit, which is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, offers
a cost-effective alternative to in-home client care. In addition
to providing socialization, supervision and recreation for the clients,
their families and other caregivers receive support, respite and
education.
FILE OF LIFE
As featured in The Catholic Virginian (Click
here for reprint), the Center is providing the FILE
OF LIFE emergency medical pouches, at no charge, to support the
community and to raise awareness of their services. They have a
speakers’ program, if you have a civic or employer group that
would be interested in learning more about this program and/or the
Center.

As we rededicate ourselves in the new year, we are pleased to announce
the addition of a Stewardship Opportunity:
M.
E. Cox Center for Elder Day Care
This ministry supports coordination with the Center and St. Nicholas
and its many ministries (Christmas Gifts: THANK YOU for the generous
response in 2004, Funshine Kids, Food Pantry, Parish Nurse Ministry,
Respect Life and Seton Youth Services). Interested parishioners
are welcome to assist with activities [i.e.-entertainment and arts
& craft], program awareness [shared signage with Seton Youth
Services], technical support [they are developing a website and
newsletter], fundraising [See’s Candies for their free FILE
OF LIFE distribution] and on-going “wish list” [items
such as Kleenex and general office assistance, including filing].
To get more information, please contact Sharon Goumas, the Center’s
Executive Director, at 340-4388.
Bless you and thank you for considering this important ministry!
